Hey! I’m so glad you want to learn a bit more about my skillset, style and work. Below I have some films that I’ve made for a variety of organizations. I’ll put some context each one, tell help explain a bit of how it was made, or what my contribution to the film was. For most of these, I’ve produced, written, shot, directed, edited, graphics and scored by myself, but not for all!

United Way for Southeastern Michigan contacted me with the idea that they needed an explainer film for their new program, a Community Information Exchange called Connect4Care. After reading through the available literature on the program, and a few meetings with the team developing the program, I wrote a script. The team at United Way then helped shape and edit the script. Then I started making illustrations for our characters and backgrounds. animated, sound-designed, and did the music for this film.

For Kresge's 15-year celebration, I made a few videos to commemorate all the great work they’ve done supporting artists in Detroit. This is a trailer for the event. From over 12 hours of artist profiles, I made a kinetic trailer, that combines, and creatively transitions between many artists and disciplines. I think it is exciting!

The two films above, Alma Backyard Farms and Shinola’s Runwell Turntable were both films I was hired for my post-production services. Synthesizing 10+ hours of interview, and 10+ hours of Broll for both of these, I believe it is one of my strengths to distill, distill, distill, until we find the core message for viewers.

I assembled this film from assets already captured by the foundation. This can be an effective way to highlight the work of your organization without needing to schedule filming days.

I made this film for SolarAid. In one week, in a very rural village in Ntchisi District, Malawi, we filmed 3 of these case study videos. I was producing and directing the films, getting up at 5 am and wrapping after 9 pm every day. Capturing real stories requires a lot of time, trust, and open-mindedness. These interviews were powerful and surprising. I ran the camera, edited, and composed the music as well. I hired a friend and mentee Smart Bwanali to do the interviews and any necessary translations. For this film I was the director, cameraperson, editor and music composer.

This video is a part of a series developed from a United Way of Southeastern Michigan initiative. I made 7 educational films about managing children’s behavioral patterns with food.

I did the post production on this film. I quite enjoy the pace and tone of this one.

I think it might be a missed opportunity to not include a film that I made for my own pleasure. I make a lot of videos; I enjoy the craft. I also enjoy homemade-alternatives-to-softdrinks. Yes, I use a lot of typefaces in this video, and I know that is a graphic-design “no-no”, but in my personal work, I often like to entertain chaos and surprise. I wouldn’t make that choice in a commercial project.

I took a trip down to Nsanje in hot season, and filmed this film to highlight the work that Concern Worldwide has done with gender parity through their Umodzi program! The results were simply stunning, and I was very touched by making this film. I may or may not have cried while editing this.

My partner and I make songs together, and I’m often filming for while we are writing and recording. It’s almost like a music video, but you can actually see the real recording of the tracks.

Another film I made for Malawi Mangoes, this one is a quick look at the journey a dried mango goes on from the field to packaging.

Africycle approached me to highlight how offering their bicycles on loan to women was helpful to the communities they were working in. We shot 2 of these videos in one day. It was really an incredible experience, as I could really feel the changes that the bicycles made to these women. Also, I love bicycles.

I edited this, as well as did some filming for the content in the USA.

Sometimes a brand asks me to animate their logo, and I enjoy that very much. It’s especially nice when it’s a cool company like Red Panda!

Working from afar! Detroit Denim sent me some phone footage, and I made it fancy!

I was the editor on this one, including the visual effects.

This video is a good example of a low-budget testimonial. We shot 8 of these in two days.

I did everything for this video. Including the music!

On this film I did the Edit, visual effects, and I was the DIT on set. Working with the ad people at google, this film had over 47 revisions, and included 24/7 on-call edit changes. I woke up a few times at 3 am to a call for an “emergency change” to which shot goes where. It was intense.

I was responsible for every aspect of this one. Music too!

I did everything! even the music.

I was responsible for all aspects of this film! Music too!

I was responsible for all aspects of this film!

On this film I did the Edit, I did some masterful VFX Touchups, that you’ll likely never notice, and I was an assistant cinematographer, and operated the 2nd Camera.

Soup to nuts, I did everything for this film. I drew the main character to look exactly like my brother!
